Ono Brewery, a local beer-making business in Chantilly, VA, celebrated its first year of existence with a Hawaiian festival on its grounds. UHAA-NCRC participated by setting up a booth to advertise our university chapter and demonstrate ribbon and kukui nut lei-making. Items were also on sale, with proceeds benefiting the scholarship programs of UHAA-NCRC. Donations of yarn and ribbon leis were also received for this event, to be sold to benefit the nonprofit efforts. This effort was a huge success, because it also resulted in more UH alumni being identified and boosting the `ohana spirit among those with direct or indirect ties to the UH.
